Lil Wayne - Never Get It

http://www.zshare.net/audio/14471381b9ee729b/

I know alot of you didnt like the Carter 3, or that's what I've been hearing, either way i think it showed great progression in Wayne, and his ability to bring totally different concepts on a song to song basis. With that being said I'm not sure how this song featuring production from David Banner didnt make the final cut... I mean it's serious... please do yourself a favor and take a listen...

Yung Bruh feat J. Holiday and The Game- Gangsta

http://www.zshare.net/audio/14470470b8382000/

New artist Yung Bruh, yea i know how many more Yung so and so rappers are we gonna have to deal with, but i digress back to the song, production is hot and Game blesses the opening verse, but is it me or is J. Holiday's vocals uninspiring... meh oh well...

Kanye West- Stalker Song

http://www.zshare.net/audio/14469744e023ffc8/

Ye' goes in over one of his patented samples on this unreleased song. Not quite sure which CD this one was left off of, but like the vast majority of his tracks its hot, stay tuned...

Jay-Z performance at Glastanbury

Not too many hip hop artist can just go to the rock oriented Glastanbury Festival and just shut shit down like Hov did yesterday. The man is a true legend, and (without being too much of a dick-rider) any music fan can appreciate what the man has been doing since I was in kindergarden. Performance included classics, a few new verses on songs such as "American Boy", and even a sarcastic jab at rock group Oasis' member Noel Gallager in the performance of the groups song "Wonderwall." (Gallager had previously said "I'm not having hip hop at Glastanbury. It's wrong"). Crowd seemed to be feeling it Mr. Gallager, check it out...

Gym Class Heroes ft The Dream- Cookie Jar

www.zshare.net/audio/142764398d55b35b

Im not sure how many of you have listened to Gym Class Heroes in the past, but if you've slept on them, this is a good place to start...

Rick Ross- Cry

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1425071178cf0ae0/

You want to see a rapper make a career on pure swagger, then look no further than the Boss. Who else in the industry would have the balls to come on stage at the B.E.T. awards with all his shit hangin out... Anyway the track is hot, and We'll be back...

Raheem DeVaughn- Text messages

I'm clearly on my DC sh*t w/ these last two posts lol. This track leaked a few days ago, and I've been banging it since. Not to many cutz out here bout one of the most popular forms of communication now-a-days, which is somewhat surprising seeing as though they (text messages) are used for everything from reasons not to talk on the phone to, as Devaughn illustrates, "sex messages". Check this smooth joint out, and thank me later for the contribution to ur bedroom mix...

Wale

Check out the DC native's 3 cutz, "Nike Boots Remix", "The Grown Up" and "The Manipulation." Shout out to my girl Jo'el who told me about Wale a good year or so ago, and I was hesistant to give him a listen cuz she said he took part in some of the DC based Go-Go music, which I couldnt really get with off of first exposure. But after I heard his "Nike Boots remix" SMASH with Lil' Wayne, I figured I'd give him a shot. Although he has still been on the underground movement, he is starting to get more exposure and I'm looking forward to his debut which should drop sometime soon. Like I say, a tight flow can go a long way, and it holds true with Wale (even tho his metaphor/rhyme game is pretty tight also)...And yeah, Go-Go is starting to grow on me a LITTLE...We keep em Coming!

Common ft. Pharrell- Announcement

Common is prepping for his fall release, and hopefully this one makes a cut. The upcoming CD is rumored to be Knaye-free, but with beats like this from Skateboard P and co., I think Common will be just fine. Pharrell's flow, while often lyrically sub par, is always pretty cool to me. He doesn't disappoint on his verse on this joint with a cool, laid back, swagger-filled verse. Check it out.

T-pain Ft. Lil' Wayne- Can't Believe It

Man, if the rumors about a best of both worlds CD with these two are true, we definitely have something to look forward to. T-Pain simply makes hit, after hit, after hit and "Mr. A Millie in one week" has officially declared that Hip-hop is far from dead. This cut is hot (I mean, would u expect anything else tho) and is supposedly featured on T-Pain's upcoming CD. Its a must-get, so...GET IT

BET Awards performance

The BET Awards is one of the main award shows that I look forward to every year. Although I believe BET could do alot better with some of its current programming, this event is one that they have consistently pulled all the punches on. IMO, in terms of the entertainment factor, this rivals the Grammy Awards and might just be better. Here are some of the feature performances of the night

Usher- Love In the Club

T.I. ft R.Kelly- Life of the Party

http://www.zshare.net/audio/14093081e6cf873c

T.I. who has been slow to release any material since his multiple gun charges in early last year, pairs with R.Kelly who i still haven't figured out how, but was recently acquitted of various child pornography charges. While his decision making outside of the studio has been skeptical at best, inside he is an unquestioned genius. T.I. on the other hand while continuing with record sells, hasn't been the same rapper since Urban Legend which marked the last cd he wrote lyrics to his tracks. During a recent MTV interview T.I. stated that he would return to that practice on the upcoming Paper Trail. I'm personally hoping he recaptures what he lost...

Cory Gunz ft. Ryan leslie- Get Right Tonight

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13985800587ff9ab/

About 5 or 6 years ago I got my first listen of a young rapper who was the son of Peter Gunz. He had a huge buzz behind him and I must say was impressive... Fast forward to today, after those years a few cameo's and mixtape tracks he still hasnt reached the heights his potential would allow of him. Teamed with the ultra talented Ryan Leslie(check video below if you dont know) Cory gives you something for your ipod...

Alicia Keys ft. LL Cool J (produced by Swizz Beatz)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13952096f94596b3/

She has all the talent in the world, she's gorgeous, and she is consistent. What more can you ask of Ms. Keys??? Add a smooth new remix produced by Swizzy and the LL verse (with some recycling off of his "I need love" old school joint) and u have a hit. Cool little jam right here, check it out...

Ryan Leslie= R&B's Kanye???

Ryan Leslie, producer and singer, is doing some real fly things in the music game lately. As a producer he has worked with such artist as Beyonce, Usher, Snoop, Diddy, Fabolous, etc. He helped the beautiful but NO talent having Cassie make a hit out of "Me and U" a few years back and recieved wide spread recognition for that miracle. His recent smash, "Diamond Girl", recieved a good deal of air play and I'm looking forward to hearing more from the DC native. He's doing his thing with this music and approaching it at a new angle then ur typical r&b cat, which is always a welcome site. Check this video out of him basically playing EVERY instrument in the process of making a beat, and on top of that singing also

*And here is another HOT joint from Ryan Leslie Ft Cassie and Fabolous- Addiction (remix)

The Clipse- Fast Life

For those of you who haven't really listened to The Clipse "Lord Willin" CD, go do so IMMEDIATLY. IMO, one of the top hip hop albums in the last ten years. As fast as this duo emerged, it seems they went away, which is a huge surprise considering the excellent debut. I'm hoping we can expect some new heat from Malice and Pusha T in the near future. This one is pretty straight and is is produced by Scott Storch. Check it out..

John Legend ft Andre 3000- Green Light (Full)

The reason I mess with John Legend and Andre 3000 both individually and collevtively on this track is because the both are NEVER afraid to push the envelope and try something different. This one is no different. An upbeat track that has a whole other type of feel. Give it a spin if for nothing else, the fact that this is a huge collabo of two of the best in the industry.

Musiq- Radio

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1372974192d5a59e/

This track is gettin posted simply because its straight from left field from my boy Musiq Soulchild. Musiq and club joints have NEVER gone hand and hand, but for whatever reason this joint beats a little. Obviously trying to make something for the "radio" with this one, Musiq is typically a cat who sticks to REAL r&b, and does his thing with it. Check this one out tho, and see if u dont nod ur head when the beat drops...

DJ Khaled feat Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Lil Boosie, Trick Daddy, Plies, Ace Hood- Out Here Grindin

DJ Khaled with the usual suspects, roll down your windows and let this one go...

Yung Joc- What's Really Good...

http://www.zshare.net/audio/136569249ef84697/

Man i didn't want yall to think we forgot about you, blame the music that's been coming out lately for the lack of post. Joc addresses all the questions people have been asking about him since he came to fame with his first banger It's Goin Down. Not the first thing he's released lately, so it seems like he may be loading up for a new CD. Anyway give this one a listen, More On The Way...

Trey Songz- Crazy

Trey Songz came out and I heard many comparisons between him and R. Kelly, possibly because of the voice similiarity or cuz of Songz' rendition of Kell's "Trapped in the Closet." Nonethless, he has managed to create a name for himself over the past 4 or so years through some hot singles and a slew of feature appearances. While he hasn't exactly blown up, he always puts out some material that is worth a listen if nothing else. Dude's got his own type of swagger, but seems to be stuck in the middle of smooth r&b cat and edgy hip-hop/r&b artist. Not sure if this role confusion is the cause of his 'B list' recongnition, but who knows. I mess wit his his first 2 CD's and am anxious to hear more from the VA native..

Mario- If I Hurt You

Mario gives u a joint for telling ur girl just what she means to you if ur struggling to find the words...a...yeah lol. But naw, Mario seems to put out stuff, like this, that is on the verge of being some legit fire but just doesn't have IT all the way. From his "Braid my hair" days, all the way up to his recent "How do I breathe", its obvious the young crooner has talent. Now its just a matter of showing some consistency and growth. "Let me love you" is undoubedtly his strongest track yet, and while his albums generally have a few smooth cuts on them, I just can't put my finger on whats not quite working for him. With a whole bunch of wannabes out here, hopefully Mario can find what it takes.

Let's make it a billion...Jay-Z- A Billie (ft. Wayne)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1331846176f3366a/

By now u have probably heard bout a million remixs to this joint, some more notable then others. However, this one obviously gets put on a higher pedestal then most with Hov blessing the track. A modest freestyle effort for Jay, but still better then 99% of the other BS tries. I feel him all the way with his billionaire hopes, seeing as tho "A Millie" really isn't that much anymore . While I would definetly love to be a millionaire, its all bout reaching for that billionaire status if ur tryna to be a REAL boss nowadays. Check back later...

Charles Hamilton- Down

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13235782b8c9636f/

Two options: 1) Keep sleeping on C. Hamilton and then jump on the bandwagon when he blows up and allow us to say "we told u so" or 2) Take our advice and listen to a man who is very likely to be a force in the hip-hop game for years to come. (FYI: The dude seems to have a weird obsession with Sonic; Not sure the inspiration for this, but nonetheless, his sh*t is fire so I'll let him slide on the inexplicable sonic pics haha)

Are we ready yet???...Nas- Black President

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13235219147ca2b4/

The always social-conscious rapper Nas, brings you another joint where he comments on the current state of the US. Obviously inspired by Barack Obama's run for the presidency, 2pacs lyrics "we ain't ready, to see a black president" make up the hook to this song. Barack even makes an appearance on the song at various points w/ snippets of various speeches. If nothing else, this track is a testament to a truly monumental point in history.

**Update**
Hero (ft. Keri Hilson) (Produced by Polow Da Don)
First single off of Nas' upcoming self titled album. Typical Nas; check it out

Summer Jam 2008- Kanye freestyle

Ye' ABSOLUTELY KILLED THIS freestyle...I'm pretty sure we can say this guy is just as good a rapper as a producer...

Passing of the Torch? Usher, Michael Jackson, Ryan Lovette and T-Pain)- Stop Playin'

http://www.zshare.net/audio/13003465fc5990bb/

Here is a longer snippet of what it set to be a CLASSIC collabo between the King of Pop, and aire to the thrown in many people's eyes (or has he already taken the crown?). Its not known whose album this will appear on, either the re-release of Here I Stand, or MJ's upcoming untitled project. Nonetheless, had to give you something to look forward to with this one. Seeing as though Usher seems to be able to switch up his style quite easily, and MJ's sound is bout as recognizable as there is, this one should be huge. Add on the fact that T-Pain (AKA human hitmaker) and up-and-comer Ryan Lovett jump on the track, I'll be waiting for the full version..more on the way...

Dru Hill- Get Loose

http://www.zshare.net/audio/130031269ad5ba11/

Anyone who says they didn't mess with Dru Hill's sh*t back in the day either is a damn liar trying to be too hard, was underneathe a rock, or simply missed out on one of the best male R&B groups of the 90's. Cuts like "Sleeping in my Bed", "5 Steps", "Beauty", and the bedroom banger "Satisfied" made this group legit in my book and many others. This new offering from them, while not up to par with aformentioned songs, is a modest effort and shows that there still may be something left in fellas' tank. Give it a listen and give us some feedback in the C-Box and/or the comment section for this and ALL of the other music and the site in general...

While we're on the subject of blog theme songs...

http://www.zshare.net/audio/129354176e9055d5/

T-Pain shows just how much he loves P. On the track Silver & Gold, he puts the ladies onto his new drink of choice, a straight mixture of Patron silver & gold... Now mind you, while i fancy myself as a connoisseur of all things patron, I'm not sure I can even get down with this one...But sit back and vibe to this track which is rumored to be off his upcoming cd 3 rings... More On The Way

Blog Theme Song???....Sean Garrett- Patron

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12933062287b736e

Singer Sean Garrett, who has also written hits for some very notable artist in the industry (Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Ciara, etc), hooks up with Pharrell for this smooth joint. Obviously lyrics are gonna be on point, still trying to decide whether or not his voice is worth bringing him out from behind the pen and paper side of things. If nothing else tho, the song's title, vibe, and hook ("Smiling in my face, but her breathe smells like PATRON) match our intentions for how we want this blog to "feel" when u visit it. Take a listen, and see for urself if ur feelin it....
