Tuesday Thought: Does "A Milli(on)" in one week prove hip hop is not dead?

By now u know about the crazy first week Wayne had with his Carter III CD, going platinum during a time period where the term "Hip Hop is Dead" is being thrown around alot. While Soulja Boy normally has NO PLACE on this blog, the simplicity in his beef with Ice-T actually addresses the question of whether Hip Hop is dead or not. Through all of his childish banter, Soulja Boy actually does state his claim as to why hip hop is not dead, and believe it or not, if u sort through all the BS, its somewhat valid. Ice-T responds with what most of us probably think bout Soulja Boy and his music, as well as hip hop in general. Lets get some feedback on this post. Leave a comment, anonymous or not. Come correct with it, cuz I'm sure there will be many points of view on the subject

I think with anything that grows, things willl change. Just b/c hip hop is not what it used to be, does that mean its worse off? Hip hop is an art form, a way for people to express themselves in a different way. While the "dance music of the south" or the lack of lyricaly complicity is seen as hip hop's death, I just see it as a faze that hip hop is going through. I believe it all has its place, whether it be in the club, banging through someones speakers, or being vibed to walking to class...
